I work my best on a wide variety of projects ranging from large scale public works to residential subdivisions.  As Wairarapa's oldest, largest and only locally-owned surveying and land development firm, Tomlinson & Carruthers recognises the importance of local knowledge and community involvement.

I am married to Elsie and we have three children aged from 3 to 8 years old.  I especially enjoy the Wairarapa lifestyle the region provides for my young family. I have represented New Zealand at waterskiing and enjoy other activities such as aviation, off road touring and home improvements.

Bob Tosswill

After attending Lincoln University in the late 60’s I have farmed sheep, beef and latterly dairy stock, in the Wairarapa all my working life.

Previous community involvements have been with Federated Farmers, Wairarapa Farm Cadet scheme and as chair of Rathkeale Board of Trustees. I am also on the Wairarapa Cancer Society Executive.

Currently I am chair of the Wairarapa Regional Irrigation Trust which is seeking to utilise the huge rainfall catchment of the Tararua’s for the benefit of our region. Water is now becoming recognised as a valuable and increasingly scarce resource and I believe must be harnessed to enable our community to grow to the next level as seen in similar rural areas such as Timaru and Ashburton.

The growth in employment and production is strongly reflected in these towns and we must expect similar benefits for the Wairarapa.

With two sons farming locally and a daughter overseas I believe we must retain our young in what should be an exciting, and developing, region.
