Wairarapa has a national reputation as an education centre, attracting students from throughout New Zealand & overseas. The number and quality of education providers at primary, secondary & tertiary levels is quite extraordinary and they function as both a source of employment and major contributor to human resources across the region.

Besides numerous pre-school centers and state primary schools, the region has seven secondary schools. Private schools and specialist training institutions for children & adults ass to the wide range of education industries on offer. More than 1000 staff are involved in making education Wairarapa’s third largest industry.
