CEO's Report

This past year has been a challenging one for business. There has been a change in the way people think and the way in which we do business. People are more cautious with their dollar and very few of us have had the disposable income of years gone by. These challenges have made a lot of businesses look at their processes and become, in many respects, better operators who have been able to adapt to the changing times.

The Wairarapa business community has risen to the challenges they have faced and have come out the other side. This is by no means saying that next year will be any easier! I feel there are still more challenges to come and by working together and becoming a collaborative business community, that continues to diversify and adapt to changing trends, we will all get through.

The Wairarapa Chamber of Commerce is here for you and we are very proud to be working with you all, and for you all. Through our continued growth in membership we look forward to bringing many new initiatives to you in the New Year.
I would personally like to thank you all for your continued support, I am passionate about the Wairarapa and believe we live and work in a fantastic region full of innovative, entrepreneurial business minds! That's what gets me up in the morning and working for you and our region as hard as we do.

Businesses around Public Holidays

It's getting close to that time when businesses have to schedule work on and around public holidays and summer leave. It may be that you are considering hiring additional staff to assist you over a busy seasonal time, or to cover employees taking leave over summer. To help you get it right the Chamber of Commerce has a range of information and tools to assist you. Contact the office today to ensure your ready!

The Public Holidays for 2009/2010 are:
Friday 25th December - Christmas Day
*Saturday 26th December - Boxing Day *
Friday 1st January - New Year's Day
*Saturday 2nd January *
* These holiday days will be transferred to the following Monday

Business After 5's Business Hosting Opportunity
