CEO's Report | This has been a very busy month for the Chamber. The AGM was held on the 29th October and the Board met for the first time the first week of November. The Chairperson is John Tulloch and the Vice Chairperson is Griff Page. The business breakfast with Murray Mexted was great and he was definitely entertaining! We have some very exciting 'new' initiatives starting in the New Year and we look forward to offering our members more services, special offers and fun in the coming months. I have just got back from the New Zealand Chamber of Commerce and Industry Conference in Christchurch. This is always a worthwhile event and the networking with other Chambers is invaluable. The most interesting area for me was the presentations from other chambers on their 'best practice', I am very proud to say that we are doing just as much, if not more (but don't tell them I said that!) for our members. In 15 months we have managed to go from an office space hiring furniture to fantastic new premises, all our own furniture and three staff, I could not be prouder of what we have achieved. None of this however would have been possible without the support of you, our members. So from me I would like to personally thank you all and I look forward to seeing you at our up and coming events in the new year.

Introducing our new Board Members! |

Job Opportunities - On-Line We are excited to offer our On-Line Job Opportunities service to our members for FREE! We recognise how hard it is to find a job in the Wairarapa region on-line, you have to go through "Wellington". We want our jobs to be easy to find for our people and the people moving here. We also want to show the world that the Wairarapa has great opportunities on offer. Many jobs seem to be found by 'who you know'. We would like to ask all our members to start offering the many opportunities available to a wider audience. You never know who you might attract! To introduce our members to our new on-line job opportunities area we would like to offer the service for FREE. This offer is only available until the end of April 2010. So jump at the chance and place a listing now!!!!

Wairarapa Regional Irrigation Meeting The development of a regional water and irrigation project which has the ability to transform Wairarapa's future took a step forward last month with the formation of a high-level Leadership Group. Conversations with all parts of the community early on are the Leadership Group's first priority. It is vital to hear perspectives and ideas about water users and values in Wairarapa, and to develop a viable and environmentally sustainable project. You are invited to a meeting to provide initial information and to hear your questions, issues and views on the project. Frank Cody Lounge, Town Hall, Masterton Tuesday 24th November 5.30 - 7pm RSVP to confirm your attendance now - click here |
